Animal Friends Home-to-Home Adoption Program presents: Bella!

Image
Bella is a 4 year old American Stafford Terrier / Boxer / Afghan Hound mix (we’ve had her DNA tested) who weighs around 80 pounds. We adopted her from a shelter when she was 4 to 5 months old.   She has a redish/brown short hair with minimum shedding.   She has been spayed, is up to date on all her shots, and has been micro-chipped.      She has gone through obedience training with two private trainers in our home and is well trained on all basic commands and leash walking.   She has also gone through the “Fearful Fido” Class at Animal Friends.   She is crate trained and house trained and does very well for even long periods of time without any accidents. We have had no chewing problems and she demonstrates no destructive behavior.   She is invisible fence trained as well.   She is a quiet dog that only barks on occasion or when strangers enter the house or when she sees other dogs.   She has a medium energy level and is as happy laying at your feet as she is going for a walk.   When s

Animal Friends' Home-to-Home program presents: Puss!

Image
I am a mature female calico house cat in need of a loving home.   I yearn to be the apple of your eye and hope that you will let me exude my diva like qualities.    I am looking for a stress free environment without competition for my owner’s attention.   In return I can offer lots of affection in the form evening snuggles on the couch and as a loyal and devoted companion.   Don’t let my age fool you.      I am a spunky 11-year-old with the mind and energy of a 4-year-old.   I love to run and play – honestly, I think this is why my brother can’t wait for me to move out! Truth be told, I can’t wait to get the treats all to myself and not have to fight for warmest spot in the house.  If you can help Puss find a forever home, please contact Leighanna at leighanna.miller@yahoo.com.

Animal Friends Home-To-Home Adoption Program presents: Nala!

Image
Nala is a beautiful, 4-year-old female, orange Tabby cat who was found, as a kitten, abandoned and alone, on the side of the road.   We took her in, and she was immediately given a clean bill of health by the vet, and introduced to our family - including an adult female cat, 2 adults and a 2-year-old girl, with a baby to follow in a year. Nala is a sweet cat who gets along well with the young children in the house, a 3 year old and 6 year old - often sleeping in their beds with them.   She can be a bit rambunctious, but it is mostly with attempts to play with a non-compliant older cat.   Since she has been with us, she has been diagnosed by multiple vets with high stress and anxiety.   Because she does not do well in a high stress environment, we are unfortunately looking to place her in another, loving home.   She would likely do best in a home with a consistent schedule.  If you can help give Nala the home she needs, please contact Talia at taliaeubanks@gmail.com.

Help Them Heal Challenge: Teddy

Image
“What are you doing here fella,” murmurs a Good Samaritan. He found a 10-year-old Chow Chow mix, Teddy, on his porch on a frigid, winter evening. Teddy was wearing a collar without tags and dragging some-20 feet of cable. This fluffy, little guy was someone’s dog. Without identification the man had no choice but to set out to find the owners. Alas, his search was fruitless – so he turned to Animal Friends. Upon Teddy’s arrival, it didn’t take long for staff to notice he was alarmingly head-shy. So much so, he needed to be muzzled to complete his physical exam. The medical team found his ear canals to be in terrible shape – it’s no wonder he was incredibly sensitive to touching on and near his ears. Despite knowing the origin of his sensitivity, his chances of being available for adoption didn’t look good. Before all animals (dogs, cats and rabbits alike) can be available for adoption at Animal Friends, their behavior must be assessed by our behavior team. This includes a few tests to

Animal Friends Home-to-Home program presents: Benni and Samson!

Image
Benni and Samson are both short haired Gemini kitties born on May 25, 2014. They could be considered fraternal twins that speak to each other in a code similar to the game marco-polo. Benni is a curly tailed tabby that loves anything to do with laser pointers.   In fact if you say the word laser in front of him he starts seeking out red dots!      Samson is a black and white longer tailed cat, to make up for his brothers short stubby tail. He much prefers hanging out in the bathroom tub, licking moisture off of the shower curtain, or lounging atop shampoo bottles.      These guys are free to a good home, but CANNOT be split up. Benni and Samson have been glued at the hip since birth so to tear them apart is a big no-no.   They are also strictly indoor cats since they have never been outside.   A smaller home or apartment is fine, as long as they have plenty of toys to play with and the landlord is okay with pets. All we will need to place these 1-year-olds is proof that you are perm
